This nature center is part of the Fripp Island Resort and includes turtle conservation as well as a number of nature programs. You can see their ball python and baby alligator, or join them on a nature or craft class, wildlife education program, or bike tour around the island. During the summer, activities expand to include sea turtle educational programs, crab lessons, pool movies, and more. There are guided kayaking tours (even at sunset or by moonlight), herpetology lessons, an alligator or turtle hunting trip, a nature cruise, and other tours led by naturalists. There's plenty to choose from!

4. Visiting Pritchards Island

Pritchard's Island is an uninhabited island that can only be reached by boat (the ferry leaves from Fripp Island, you can also go kayaking). Naturalists can take you surfing, fishing, beach sweeping, and organize photography workshops, turtle tagging, night hikes, and more. There is a "Phillip Rhodes Barrier Island Research Facility" on the island where several visitors can stay overnight. There is not only one pool here - there are three. There is an oval-shaped swimming pool that is heated all year round, a lagoon-shaped swimming pool with waterfalls and caves, and a children's pool with a slide. There is a bar by the pool called Willie's Wet Bar and the clubhouse also has a restaurant and shop. In addition, the complex overlooks the ocean. Perfect for a few hours of fun or a full day stay.

6. Watch a movie at the drive-in theater on Highway 21

Yes, drive-in theaters still exist; Hwy 21 on Fripp Island is one of the few remaining in the country. If you've never been to one, I highly recommend it - imagine opening the trunk and sitting on a blanket or setting up chairs next to the car, eating and drinking from the fridge while watching a movie on a giant screen under the stars. Hwy 21 features late-night movies in addition to several other events, as well as a concession stand; note that it is about a 45 minute drive to Fripp Island. Visit their website for movie schedules and event schedules.

7. Admire the views from the Hunting Island Lighthouse

If you're looking for the Fripp Island Lighthouse, the closest you'll find is Hunting Island Lighthouse which is about half an hour's drive away and is located on St. Helena. It was built in 1859 (and rebuilt in 1875 after the Civil War) and closed in 1933. Today, you can climb the 167-step spiral staircase to the upper balcony for $2 and enjoy panoramic views of the park and ocean. Hunting Island Park also has a swamp boardwalk, nature center, plenty of wildlife to see and a beach to walk around - you can even collect shells!

If you are looking for a unique activity, the Camelot Farms Equestrian Center will take you on a horseback ride. About 38.6 km from Fripp Island is the Historic Port Royal Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1976 that runs a museum and hosts informative lectures, monthly meetings, and walking tours highlighting the history of the city of Port Royal. Visitors will have the opportunity to see when life in the Lowcountry depended on harvesting seafood from local creeks and rivers, and how the deeper natural harbor provided the opportunity and inspired local artisans to build and trade boats and trawlers.
