Tim McGraw reveals how he and Faith Hill resolve their musical differences
It's just thatTim McGrawhe was about to embark on his self-ignition journey when he metHill of Faith.
Whykaboom, In fact.
"I knew right away," McGrawcountedFrescoin 2022 to fall in love with your ownwife for 26 yearsin 1996. “The first time I saw her picture, I knew I was in love. It was my firstmain tourand my manager asked her manager if she would agree to perform on the tour and she agreed.
Before going on tour, they played at the festival. And one evening, as the singer recalls, he and his team, as usual, closed the performanceSteve'a Millerait's "The Joker" playing his "kind of slide guitar" at the front of the stage when "I feel a presence behind me, I turn around and it's Faith doing a slide with us. I turn to look at her and I said, "OK kid, there's something here."
And something like that is never forgotten.
After about a month or two on the road, McGraw continued, "One day I finally went into her dressing room and I just kissed her."
The centrifugal movement perpetuated by that kiss drove them down the aisle on October 6, 1996, and they ended the tour as husband and wife.
Not that Hill didn't force McGraw to work, rejecting some of his overtures because she didn't think he was serious until he finally asked in writing, "Will you marry me?" scrawled on the mirror with a marker. Her answer was "Yes!" written in lipstick and still have a mirror.
"I knew beyond a reasonable doubt," said Hill.ABC's NewsBarbary Walters"that this person will be my companion for the rest of my life."

Since then, they have been almost inseparable, raising their daughters.Gracie, 26,Maggie, 25 eAudrey McGraw, 21, on four highly successful duo tours, and recently teamed up to play a difficult borderline couple in an intenseYellow stoneprequela1883their first performance together.
"We were in bed," McGraw said, and Hill "read the entire script aloud. And then I read the second episode aloud," and that's how they went through the season. However, since they didn't want their true dynamic to seep into the characters, they didn't rehearse off-set.
"I thought it was important that we don't stick to the set rules," Hillexplained in E!Daily popin June 2022 "We never talked about our scenes until we were on set as James and Margaret and we said 'Action'." However, they prepared for the scene where Margaret let James have it.

"The only thing we talked about was we don't want to slap the TV," McGraw said on the showDaily pop. “We want a real spanking. We're married, we can take it. We've been together a long time."
However, he joked, "on the eighth take I was like, 'OK, we need to talk? Is there something going on that I don't know about?”
There was no. "We don't hit in our marriage," Hill noted. "Let's get this straight."
But they support each other endlessly, and both singers praise each other for getting better, on and off stage.
McGraw always shows his wife his albums because "his musical ability is one of the best in the world," he told E! News ahead of the August 25 release of her 17th studio album, waiting room only"We don't always agree on songs," the 56-year-old added with a smile, "but I always want her opinion."
However, this feedback works both ways, McGraw explained, and the final decision always rests with who the project is. "We are individual artists," he said. “We both have our own idea of what we consider good and what we like. Most of the time we agree, but sometimes there is a slight disagreement."

McGraw will embark on a tour in support of the album on March 14; the familiar agenda he and Hill had established long ago should not keep them apart for too long.
So they spent a lot of time together on the road, taking 3-year-old Gracie and 2-year-old Maggie with them on Soul2Soul's inaugural tour in 2000.
"When I look back on my career, the times I spent working with Faith, especially touring with Faith, my records - or at least my performances on them - got exponentially better because I had to sing with her every night," McGraw reflected myselfSunday meeting with Willie Geistin 2020. “When it comes to singing with Faith, it's like NASCAR trying to keep up with Indy's car. In my opinion, she really is one of the greatest singers ever to sing a song."
In fact, they could be in the middle of a performance and "I get this look from her, 'You're wobbling, sonny, you've got to keep up,'" McGraw said. “The thing is, it makes me better. (Looking at it sideways, they end each performance with a kiss at the end.)
As for the daughters, "we're trying to make their lives as normal as possible," McGraw told E! News. Thanks to the couple's early success, they had the luxury of being able to spend time on their own, so they tried not to work too hard while their daughters were at school.
"I coached basketball, I coached softball, we went to all the PTA meetings, we went to soccer games," recalled the girl's father when the kids were cheerleaders. Overall, he and Hill "tried to teach them humility, humility and great respect for everyone else and being grateful for the lives and opportunities you've been given."

Until 2021, this Nashville couple owned L'île d'Anges, their own 20-acre island in the Bahamas. "Our kids practically grew up there," McGraw said.podcast hostAubrey Marcusin 2019 - before being sold for $35 million. "I load my 19 year old Cadillac Escalade, take out all the seats, load it with all my eldest daughter's stuff," McGraw tells E! “And I'm taking her across the country to Los Angeles. and I'm just falling apart, then I'll stay at the hotel, then I'll leave and come back alone the next day.

But while he's obviously a loving dad who couldn't be more proud of his children's successes, McGraw would have been delighted to see how well the girls - and everyone else in their lives - got along with their significant other.
"I'm lucky to have her"said E! NewsHill in 2017. “She is the light of life for our entire family. Thanks to her, we succeed. We all try to be like my wife, everyone in our family. If your wife sets an example for everyone in her family, that's a good thing."
Author of the Healthy Eating GuideStrength and gracehe also openly said that he owes his real life to his wife, accountancyPeoplein November 2009 ("probably a year and nine months" since his last drink), but for her, he "would be dead".
"Faith has saved my life in more ways than one - more than anything else," McGraw said. “Sometimes I can go down a dark path when you're not comfortable with yourself and she pulls me out. My wife makes me a better person."
Hill - amid rumors of trouble for the couple in heavenI thoughtPeoplein 2013 "I don't know why the word "happy" can't be history" - it can be a beautiful glue that holds it all together, but after all these years I like, love and want more.
"The greatest gift we've ever been given in life is our children," Hill said as she and McGraw were bothinducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017. "Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for the pleasure and honor for Gracie, Maggie and Audrey." Being their mother made her want to be the best person she could be, she continued when the tirade turned a bit rowdy. "And because of their father - it's you," she pointed to McGraw, who chimed in as the crowd burst into laughter. "We have a blood test."
The couple burst out laughing. "I don't want to be a fool," Hill insisted, "because it's a bit [suffocating gesture] But I love this guy. It's spicy like Tabasco sauce, times a thousand. It's spicy, heavy and amazing. And he just taught me how to be spicy. This is, all the time." She turned to her husband, adding: "And thank you for my children, I love them and I love you."
And "happy" can be that story.
